In New Jersey most stations give a "cash discount", usually 10 cents a gallon so I pay cash and save the ten cents (U.S) a gallon.

All things being equal, if a credit card offers a bigger discount than the "cash discount" I would pay by credit.

Debit card.

It's quick, easy, and since I have to do it every four days I'm glad to know that I can be in and out in no time at all.

Debit/Credit Card at the pump. I hate having to go inside and then sometimes having to go back to get cash back.

CC. In my opinion, it's the most secure way to pay. Also, it's quicker to pay at the pump than go inside the store, plus I get my 5% cash back each month.

Since using gas buddy, I pay cash. It is a great savings over a period of time. The difference in price could be a savings of $2.00 or more a tankful.

Why is it that when 81% of Gas Buddy users pay by credit card, Gas buddy recommends that cash prices be posted whenever a cash discount and credit card price exists? Gas Buddy users would be directed to the lower cash price but end up paying the higher credit price. If credit prices are reported, then 81% of gas buddy users would pay the lesser price

how do i pay for fuel ?
i usually pay cash but in Nanaimo at the co-op you can purchase a gas card that helps you save $$$$. how it works is you become a co-op member then you purchase a gas card with min. $100 or more. the higher amount the higher % is taken off your gas price. for example : if you put $300.00 on the gas card you get 3% per litre off youe fuel.

Credit card. By using the same card for all purchases, it is very convenient. I keep a tab on all spending, getting cash back, while paying off the monthly balance. Also, debit cards don't give me the same guarantee against fraud, lost or stolen card.

ə usually i buy from murphy® and use my wal*mart® shopping card. most of the rest of the time, i use my debit card but select the option for credit so i do not have to enter my pin.
occasionally i pay with cash.
i chose “other”. ə

What happened to the Sep 21, 2011
FAQ:
Q: Do I post the cash price, or the credit price? Show Answer Link to This
A: Most consumers use debit or credit cards when making purchases. We've had far too many complaints from people stating they've gone to a station only to find out they had to pay more than what was quoted on our site. That said, please post the price before the cash discount when possible. You can still provide the cash discount information, but please enter that information in the Comments field.

It would help the 81%-ers and 16%-ers if a preference button choice for cash or credit posting or display could be added and display cash in Green and credit in RED. This would help everyone make better choices.

Penfed gives 5% back on gas purchase. Then pay off the card in full each month. Get $500-$600 back each year.

If ~81% of people are paying with credit or debit cards, why does the new policy state only *cash* prices should be listed? It makes no sense to me!

FWIW: Poll should have been "Credit Card" "Debit Card" "Cash" "Other".

Credit/Debit is not a good "combined" choice. Me? I never use anything but a reward based credit card. But many MAY prefer cash or debit because they don't want to have a "debt" to pay later.

Where I live it is very common for stations to charge less for cash, so that is how I pay. There is a $.14/gal difference at the station I generally use, though $.10/gal is probably more common.
