Harden had his first career triple double last night. Did Lin have something to do with that?

Jeremy played a great game last night. Key baskets and assists in win. He is not the star that was wanted and reported, but is a good point guard.

In the game last night Lin shot 25% from the field and Harden shot 27% from the field. It makes a difference when you are a starter and expected to carry the load.

"The unrealistic expectation for Lin is to play like that superstar he was with the Knicks."
The reality was that he had an unbelievable run and we all knew he wasn't really a superstar, despite the NYC hype machine pumping non-stop for a couple weeks.

Jeremy Lin got help from Rockets to tame 'Linsanity' beast and beat the Knicks. The weight of the "Linsanity" monster has been too heavy to bear for Jeremy Lin thus far as a Houston Rocket. But on Friday, Lin's teammates lessened the stress of it all for at least one night as Houston rolled to a 131-103 victory in Lin's first game against the New York Knicks since departing Manhattan for a big paycheck this past summer. Lin was the Rockets' fourth-leading scorer Friday with 13 points and shot 50 percent from the field for just the second time in 13 games. "Obviously, no one wants to play the way I started the season," Lin said. "But that is the reality of the situation. And now it's about forgetting about the past and moving forward."
Lin's memorable run last season with New York – a 12-game stretch before the All-Star break where he averaged 22.6 points and 8.7 assists – is hard to shake, especially since it helped land a three-year, $25 million deal with Houston. The unrealistic expectation for Lin is to play like that superstar he was with the Knicks. Reality has him averaging 10.2 points on 34.8 percent shooting from the field for the up and down Rockets .
Remember when Lin scored 38 points against the Los Angeles Lakers last season? Well, he hasn't eclipsed 21 this season.
"I'm not looking to re-create what happened in New York," Lin said. "I want to be a consistent player. I want to get better. I don't know what my potential is. I don't know if I can play better than that one-week stretch. But I'm going to find out to see how close I can get." Living up to the Linsanity hype and recovering from knee surgery got to Lin early in Rockets training camp, sources close to the team said. The late addition of James Harden didn't ease things either. Sources said reserve guard Shaun Livingston often outplayed Lin in October. Sensing Livingston might get waived at the end of camp due to financial concerns, several Rockets players and coaches pleaded with management to keep him. A point guard controversy could've arrived if Livingston stuck around, but he was waived Oct. 29.
Houston desperately needs a point guard. Lin, however, has a score-first mentality and is very much a work in progress at floor general. Lin made his name with the Knicks by scoring, not making anyone better. He is averaging a team-high 6.1 assists per game which ranked 19th in the NBA entering Friday. He had three against the Knicks.
Harden says Lin is putting "a little too much" pressure on himself. The Knicks' Carmelo Anthony disagrees.
"I don't think he is playing with any pressure at all," Anthony said. "All the pressure was with him being in New York. "A guy like Harden and [Chandler] Parsons take pressure off of Jeremy."
Parsons lit up the Knicks with a career-high 31 points Friday, while Harden led the team with 33.He is the last one introduced in the starting lineup, promoted the strongest and is averaging a team-best 25.2 points per game, early proof that he's worth his $80 million contract. While Lin has an All-Star following on the road, Harden is the one with the ball in his hands the most now. He led the team in assists Friday with nine.
His advice for his teammate: "[Lin] has just got to play basketball. Whenever he is open, shoot the ball. Whenever he has an opportunity to attack, make a play for somebody."
Lin exchanged warm greetings with Anthony and Tyson Chandler prior to tip-off and went to the New York bench to shake hands with coach Mike Woodson. Once the game started, Lin appeared relaxed, scoring on a lay-up quickly. The pressure will get stronger when Lin returns to New York on Dec. 17. But where it could be the biggest headache is during All-Star weekend in Houston, where he will likely get voted in as a starting guard over Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook and Steve Nash thanks to heavy support from Chinese voters. There is no way the host Rockets and the always globally conscious NBA would let him turn the roster spot down.
The Linsanity monster won't die, but it can be tamed.
"I'm thankful that today was a step in the right direction," Lin said. "I'm glad I was able to move in that direction and I still have a ways to go. I think I'm capable of a lot more. I'm definitely happy with the way I'm progressing, the way my body is progressing and my team, too."

The real reason is that he is no longer a surprise. The other players have had an opportunity to see his game. Now they are not caught off balance and put the tight "D" on him. This explains why he has been to so many teams and been cut. By the way having confidence is needed for success for any endeavor that one encounters.

Comment from Linsanity website... There is no question Jeremy is in the worst shooting slump of his career. However, tonight his whole game was affected as his confidence has disappeared and he looked like a total mess. In the NBA, without belief in yourself, you have no shot. How and why has this happened?
First, lets look back at Linsanity of last year. This was a convergence of so many good things all coming together at the right and perfect time. The right system, the right coach, the right players surrounding him. It's much more obvious now how valuable Tyson was as his pick and roll big man. He had Shump as the shutdown defender who would help guard quicker point guards. Novak was automatic from outside. Jared Jeffries was the all around glue guy and his buddy Fields as his sidekick. Jeremy played with no fear and with the attitude of "I've got nothing to lose I might as well just swing for the fences". He was able to train for over 4 months straight due to the lock out at Sparta and with Doc. He got his opportunity and seized the moment and played his game.
Now, what a difference 7 months makes. The convergence of many not so good things have him in a slump and its erased any memory of Linsanity and have left many of us sad, befuddled, angry, impatient, ungrateful, unsure, pained, or any other non-positive emotion you can think of.
The first warning signs showed up in the summer as Jeremy didn't start working out hard until about mid July. A knee injury that supposed to take 4-6 weeks to heal, took about 12-14 weeks. Did he try to rush back too soon? Was there much more damage than reported? With a trip to Taiwan/China already scheduled for the full month of August, Jeremy didn't get more than two full months in at Sparta and with his shooting Coach Doc Scheppler. Doc is taking a lot of flack right now as Jeremy struggles but just remember, the JLin shooting of Linsanity was all Doc, as Jeremy has stated many times.
Next, seeing Jeremy in preseason, I immediately thought he was around 80% and that it would take at least a month to get close to 100%. His conditioning didn't look great either. It's been a month and he still looks a step slow and he hasn't regained all his explosiveness. He seems to fade in the 2nd halves so far and he doesn't seem to be in top condition.
With Jeremy starting to get in better rhythm at the end of preseason with his new teammates, his roll seemed to be set as the primary ball handler and shot creator. However, the last minute trade of Harden for Kevin Martin completely changed his role. Now, instead of having the ball in his hands 70-80% of the time while on the court, he may have it 30-40%. Jeremy just looks so uncomfortable out there most of the time. Especially, when he's running to the corner. Also, he seems to be running away from the ball as to not wanting to shoot. This is just messing up the whole flow of the offense.
Another not so good thing is the inexperience of this team. Not only in its play but being able to help Jeremy in overcoming his rough start. Jeremy stated many times how he received valuable input from the vets in NY.
All of these negatives have snow balled and now Jeremy is left with no jumpshot, no quick first step, no confidence, and no aggression.
With all of these things said, lets truly realize how much pressure this young man has on his shoulders. He is only human and as bad as we're feeling here, he is feeling 1000 times worse. For those of you who have followed him from his high school or college days until now, we know that he has overcome even bigger obstacles.
Many laughed when we said he is an NBA player. Then he became one. Many more hated and ridiculed when we said he would be a starter. Then he became one. Now many are so excited to say I told you so when he is struggling. People can laugh and hate as much as they like, but that won't stop us from supporting him 100%.
Lastly, it's up to Jeremy to make this right. It's not going to come easy. He is going to have to work his way through this. We know his character and the kind of man he is. We know he will come through. We'll stay positive and supportive in this tough time.

Jeremy Lin, who signed a $25 million contract with the Houston Rockets last week, said that he was shocked by the negative reaction some had about his decision to leave the Big Apple. Lin is over it now. "You have to say something about my mom or my family for me to get really, really upset," Lin said. On his sudden fame, Lin said that it was sometimes "uncomfortable."

me, I think he's a good player, he got real lucky and had a hot streak for awhile. But where is he today. Oh well, he'll have the offseason to rest up. But I won't pick him for my fantasy team next year, he's too unpredictable and inconsistent.

Jeremy Lin unsure when he'll return to Knicks New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin watched as some of his teammates took part in a shooting contest after Sunday's practice. He had two ice packs on his knees and a smile on his face – which, by some measure, could be considered progress. Nearly a month after having surgery on his left knee, Lin is back on the court. The big question now: When will he return to a game? Lin felt good after participating in a one-on-one drill Saturday, but his knee was sore after a non-contact workout Sunday. He's ruled out playing in Games 2 and 3 in the Knicks' first-round series against the Miami Heat and is skeptical about Game 4. Lin characterized his timeline for returning as "somewhere down the road" in the Miami series. "I don't really want to make a promise because I just don't know how [the knee is] going to feel," Lin said. "If I felt good today that would be more of a possibility. But I didn't feel that great today." The Knicks could use Lin. They lost rookie guard Iman Shumpert for the remainder of the series after he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in Game 1. Center Tyson Chandler didn't attend practice Sunday because he's suffering from flu-like symptoms. Guard Baron Davis has a sore lower back but plans on playing in Monday's Game 2. Forward Jared Jeffries was limited in Game 1 because of a sore right knee. "The thing about this team is we've shown a lot of resiliency throughout the season with guys coming back earlier and making a playoff push," Davis said. "Guys on this team have come into this postseason banged up. There is nothing you can do at this point but give it your best effort." Lin hasn't played since March 24. During his seven-week run as the Knicks' starting point guard, he captured the sporting world's imagination, drawing praise from President Obama and watching his jersey become one of the hottest-selling in the NBA. The Heat, however, cooled off "Linsanity" on Feb. 23, when Lin missed 10 of 11 shots and committed eight turnovers in a 102-88 loss in Miami. Even if Lin returns during this series, he likely won't be in game shape and will need to adjust to coming off the bench. "When I come back I want to bring energy and be aggressive," Lin said. "I have fresh legs." Carmelo Anthony preached caution for those wanting Lin to return soon.
"I've seen situations like that before and we don't want him to rush it," Anthony said.
