I have read a lot of people justify the by products of ethanol and especially the corn oil and (which we use at our house and have done so for years).

Corn Oil - read the possible Negative health effectsThere are also concerns about the use of distillers grain and possible impact with the food supply

Renewable Fuel Standards - recent study by Board of Agriculture and Board of Energy

Especially a concern for the effects of feeding to animals prior to slaughter, or egg production or production of milk.

RAB2010: You have a point. Actually we would be better off if we went back to real butter and raw milk products.

Most vegetable oils are not good for you. We would be better off if we used corn oil, soy oil, and most vegetable oils for biodiesel.

I personal use olive oil which is high in omega 3 for my salad dressings and coconut oil for my cooking oil.

I also use flax oil which is high in omega 3s as a supplement on my cereals, etc..

Beware of big government...namely the FDA and USDA. They are really only looking out for the interests of the big food and drug companies.

We have messed things up so bad. Coronary artery disease began to climb after margarine was introduced. Look at the typical American diet today, including the makeup of that diet, and look at the health of an average American. Now we want the government to take over health care? Are we stupid? Next thing you know, any one over 35 will be euthanized due to excessive cost, being overweight, not being fast enough, being unable to compete with 20 year-old kids . . .

Goliee, how did you determine that the omega3 and omega6 content of corn oil is not relevant to this topic? After all, you yourself have trumpeted about how valuable a by product corn oil is, and there are definite questions on the ill effects of corn oil to the population at large....

actually goldseeker, the corn oil was a "byproduct" of checking out the distillers grain. I had no idea of some of the concerns about by products of ethenaol production.

If you read the last appendix they also mention concerns about:

Toxins from Fungi.
possiblle Increased risk of E-Coli
Concern of nutrition (low protein whed Dried Distillers grain *ddg used).
High content of fat when used in pork and Poultry production.I wondered why the restrauant industry would be concerned, now this explains some of it...

This is a moot issue, as corn oil is the same whether or not it comes by conventional means or from the ethanol process. When you start talking about omega 3 and omega 6, you have opened up another topic altogether. If you want to talk nutrition, then start a topic specifically for that.

Also take note that a good portion of that corn oil will end up as biodiesel.

And concerning trace antibodies? What about the ethanol companies that do not use antibodies? You need to take a trip down to your local ethanol company and find out for yourself instead of relying on junk you find on the internet.

It's good for the farmers who produce/grow all that corn - that's for sure

I think a lot of those questions are still trying to find their answers.
