silverstreaker, I have no problem with alternatives... I agree and competition is good.
No problem with the government (tax payers) helping out new alternative fuels... But to think that the help goes on for ever is unbelievable fantasy. Give people a choice...
The subisidies for Ethanol and mandatory ethanol put in the fuel needs to stop. Offer the e10 as a cheaper alternative and allow people that prefer, to purchase e0... Regardless where they live...

reb4 asks "So who's supporting big oil more, you or me???"
As you show, I purchase more gasoline and more ethanol than you do. I purchase as much ethanol as I can, mostly for the cost savings. I believe that we need alternatives to petroleum products and my experience has been that ethanol functions just as well as an alternative fuel for gasoline.

Silverstreaker said "Are you guys admitting that you are paid oil lobbyists? The only financial gain that I have ever received from ethanol is when I buy E85. I buy it for about 20% less than gas and get about the same milage with all of the blends I use. "
SilverStreaker - The assumption from the ethanol fans, is that anyone that is not blindly pro ethanol is an oil lobbyist.
That is FAR from the truth for me... I think your efforts to not buy oil and purchase e85 is great... But you CHOOSE to do so. I wish I HAD A CHOICE to purchase the fuel I would like to use in my vehicle.
I chose to cut down my fuel consumption by purchasing an Hybrid vehicle. Most fuel efficient vehicle available at the time.
You stated that you purchased over 273 gallons of gasoline in 2010 and that was about 1/3 of your fuel purchased in 2010. This was in your own topic : Silverstreaker - Link to post titled "How much E85 did you buy last year?"
My family's TOTAL fuel purchases was less than 385 gallons (mostly e10)in 2010. That was UP due to travel to visiting a sister-in-law dying in Madison, Wi. My consumption this year so far is well under 200 gallons.
So who's supporting big oil more, you or me???

"Now goldseeker, do you profit from the proliferation of ethanol ?"
You're funny even asking. Here's a guy with over 15K posts promoting ethanol by spreading lies and bad science.
Goldseeker is a paid lobbyist. This is just part of his job. The other part of his job is convincing politicians to continue paying subsidies in support of ethanol.
He whines about petroleum subsidies, but never even indicates what form these supposed subsidies take.

goldseeker - "Perhaps I am wrong, but are you getting a kick back?"
Thanks, I needed a good laugh to end of the week...
I only attempted to get the link that fshrgy99 attempted several times to post. That was my "ulterior motive". Upon further review, this was not from evinrude but a company that appears to offer parts for that industry.
To answer your accusation... I am not in any industry that profits from the use or non use of ethanol or gas products. Not in repair business. I don't own a boat, nor have I ever owned one...
Now goldseeker, do you profit from the proliferation of ethanol ?
Did you ever find that link from the "real expert" you claimed posted here in the past?

Reb4....you never learn. Under forum guidelines point 11) and I quote, "Please do not advertise on the website."
You repeatedly post links to sites that are pointing their fingers at ethanol as creating problems in modern day motors, and then the very link has an advertisement for a snake oil fix for the so-called problem.
If people are so foolish to buy this junk, then that is their problem. However your willingness to post links to these sites amazes me.
Perhaps I am wrong, but are you getting a kick back?
And also many of the charges on this site that you have provided the link to are actually false.
Ethanol is far more compatible with rubber and other elastomers than other common components of gasoline. For your information, Dupont and other companies manufactor elastomers that is used for gaskets and seals in most modern day engines. I think they know how to make this material and what it is compatible with. If you doubt my word, just check Dupont's Compatibility chart. Just click on ethanol alcohol and the look at the compatibility rating. You will see that ethanol has a very high rating. Now check out benzene, toulene and xylene which just happen to be common components of gasoline, and you will find a different result.
Now scroll down a little bit more until you come to gasoline. Click on it and wow!!!!!! Gasoline doen't fare to well does it?
You can continue to post links to these worthless sites which is a violation of the rules of this forum, and also quote these armchair experts if you like, but as for me, I will continue to quote the real experts.

Link from Evinrude that fshrgy was attempting to share
Joeboxer, I think you meant the gasbuddy.com website, since the forums are not really for posting gas sites...
